• Fundamental Techniques:
  Left & right hand technique, finger exercises, strumming & picking patterns, chord shapes, and good posture.
• Music Theory: Basic and intermediate music theory — how scales interact within a song, how to choose chords that work well together, and how to add interesting flourishes to your playing.
• Song Learning: Learn the chord voicings, rhythmic styles, and melodies of your favorite songs.
  The best way to learn quickly is by studying something you enjoy!

About your guitar instructor

Sam is a guitarist and drummer with over two decades of musical experience. He began studying music in elementary school and got his first guitar at age 12. Since then, he has performed in a wide range of groups, from Classical Guitar and Jazz Ensembles at Ball State University to touring rock, pop, and metal acts across the United States.

In this course, students of all levels explore a wide range of drumming styles, from rock and pop to jazz, funk, and Latin rhythms. Mirko provides personalized instruction tailored to your individual goals and musical interests, helping you grow with confidence and creativity behind the kit.

• Fundamental Techniques:
  This course covers all essential foundations for drumming, including proper posture, body alignment, and efficient joint usage, as well as understanding how movement should be distributed between the arms and legs. Students will also develop three-way and four-way independence, learn how to apply rudiments in different musical contexts, and receive an introduction to double-pedal techniques.
• Music Theory: This section explores the use of syncopation in songs and how rhythmic concepts have evolved throughout music history. Students will also learn to understand musical structure in depth and translate that knowledge into both sheet-music reading and real-world performance.
• Song Learning: You will learn everything from basic rhythms to more complex patterns, while listening to and playing your favorite songs to develop musicality and strengthen your ear-training skills. This approach provides the strongest foundation for your growth as a drummer.

As a drummer of Latin-Spanish and Japanese descent, Mirko brings a deep passion for music, blending influences from multiple cultures into his unique playing style. Now based in Japan, he has expanded his musical horizons through band performances and live shows, incorporating elements of rock, jazz, and Latin rhythms. He also offers online drum lessons in Spanish, Japanese, and English, sharing his expertise with students around the world.

I’m a singer, communicator and educator, with more than 20 years of stage experience.

Music has always been in my life. Born in Brazil, I started learning piano at school. Growing up, I explored different music styles – until I found my way. I fell in love with rock music, started a band, and was soon on stage, sharing with my passion with growing audiences.

In Japan since 2018, I perform every week in livehouses and music bars, collaborating with the best musicians in Tokyo. My styles range from classic rock to jazz, through blues, funk and disco.

My favorite artists include Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Carpenters, Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Michael Jackson.

Besides my musical activities, I have been working in communication, media and as a teacher in international schools.
